My research focuses on understanding how marine organisms and their associated microbial communities respond to environmental and husbandry-related perturbations, using genomic, transcriptomic and microbiome-based approaches. I study biological systems as dynamic processes, where host regulation, microbial composition and environmental conditions are tightly interconnected.

My current work is oriented toward aquaculture-relevant bivalves, including Mytilus spp., Venerupis corrugata and Ruditapes decussatus, with the aim of identifying microbial and molecular signatures linked to larval performance and production success in hatchery conditions.

I combine experimental sampling with bioinformatic and statistical analysis of high-throughput sequencing data, developing and applying reproducible workflows for genome annotation, RNA-Seq and metabarcoding.
