My research focuses on understanding how aquatic organisms and their associated microbial communities respond to environmental and husbandry-related perturbations, integrating comparative genomics, transcriptomics, microbiome analyses and bioinformatics. I study biological systems as dynamic and interconnected processes, where host regulation, microbial communities and environmental conditions jointly shape biological responses, resilience and adaptation.

My current work is centred on marine organisms of aquaculture relevance, particularly bivalves such as Mytilus spp., Venerupis corrugata and Ruditapes decussatus. Through the integration of molecular and microbial data, I investigate biological responses to environmental variability and seek to identify signatures associated with organism health, robustness and aquaculture performance.

I develop and apply reproducible computational workflows for genome annotation, RNA-seq, microbiome profiling and metabarcoding, while progressively expanding my research toward environmental genomics and the study of adaptation in aquatic systems.
